Abstract
668,731. Belt gearing. K.C.M. CO. Sept. 28, 1948 [Oct. 9, 1947], No. 25253/48. Class 80 (i). [Also in Group I] In a travelling band filter-press (see Group I) in which an endless perforated screen'belt 17 is supported in contact with the surfaces of rolls 12, 13, 14, 15, the roll 15 functions as a guide roll and prevents side play of the belt 17 by coacting a palm and escapement control mechanism. This mechanism includes a counter-weighted palm 51 biassed into contact with one edge of the belt and moves by rod linkage 61 a bifurcated reciprocating member 53 so as to cause one of two pawls 55 carried by the member 53 to engage one or other, depending upon direction of movement of the belt, set of oppositely directed ratchet teeth on a wheel 57 to rotate the wheel in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction on a supporting threaded member 59 located on the stationary frame of the press by a bracket 60. The movement of the wheel 57 on the threaded member 59 effects slidable longitudinal movement of the bearing on one end of roll 15 relative to the supporting frame to realign belt 17 and disengage the pawl and ratchet mechanism.
