[Also in Group XI] In an electric range with hotplates 15 controlled by switches 41-44, each with five transparent push-buttons 51 and an "off" push-button 56, a colour card with differently-coloured transparent panes 65, one for each button, is mounted above each switch 41 ... 46 controlling the degree of heating of the hot-plates. A single transverse lamp 81 is mounted within a backsplasher 19 carrying the switches. A shutter is formed with an opening 73 in an extension 74 of the buttonmounting, associated with an opening 72 in a ferrule 71 on the inner end of each pushbutton, so that a coloured light is transmitted through the button when operated to indicate the degree of heating. The inner end 75 of each pushbutton is inclined and serrated to reflect light through the button. The backsplasher 19 has a window 28 in a recess 26 to illuminate the switches and carries a similar oven switch 36, a rotary temperature-setting knob 91 for the oven, and a clock-controlled timer 34 with a control 35. The push-buttons are mounted in a row in a trim plate 29.
