Abstract

667,181. Hose couplings. BRITISH TYRE & RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BEAZLEY, T. A. Feb. 15, 1950 [Feb. 18, 1949], No. 4539/49. Class 99 (i) In a hose fitting in which a reinforced hose end is clamped between a sleeve 4 and an insert 2, the bared reinforcement 10 is gripped between rings 6, 12, one or both of which is of softer material than that of the sleeve and insert. The sleeve and insert may have grooves 18, 19 in which the material of the rings and hose is embedded when the sleeve is contracted by swaging, the outer end of the sleeve being swaged down on to the insert. The reinforcement is bared externally to a greater extent than internally so that the ring 12 overlaps the inner rubber layer 16. The ring 6 has an external flange 8 against which the ring 12 bears. Specification 610,426 is referred to.
