Abstract
667,080. Cam mechanism. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 24, 1950 [Jan. 29, 1949], No. 1880/50. Class 80 (iii). A roller follower, actuated by a rotary cam 1, comprises a roller 10 and a rod 4 passing through a guide member 6. The rod 4 has a forked end 5 to which are pivoted crank arms 7 rigidly attached to a shaft 9 carrying the roller 10. The spacing of the roller centre from the axis of rotation 8-8 of the crank arms is equal to the radius of the roller, so that as the cam 1 rotates the point of contact of the roller therewith is always on the axis 8-8. The roller follower is thus given the same motion as would be given to a chisel-edge follower, and no modification of cam profile is necessary.
