Abstract
In acid resisting cements comprising a thermosetting synthetic resin syrup, an accelerator therefore and ball or china clay as filler, the clay employed has a moisture content of less than 2 per cent by weight and comprises at least 40 per cent by weight of the mixture. Phenol-formaldehyde syrups of 50 poises viscosity at 25 DEG C. and furfuryl alcohol resin syrup of viscosity 5 poises are specified together with accelerators such as aromatic sulphonic acids or chlorides which may be used in from 10-40 per cent by weight of the resin.
