Abstract
666,673. Yarn twisting apparatus. REGINA SOC. ANON. Sept. 13, 1949 [Oct. 8, 1948; April 29, 1949], Nos. 23616/49 and 23617/49. Class 120(ii) A yarn twisting apparatus includes a rotatable vertical spindle 1 having an axial passage leading from its free end tc an opening 17 in the spindle wall, a yarn guide 16 fast on the spindle adjacent the opening 17 and extending outwardly, a yarn package carrier mounted to rotate freely on the spindle 1, a yarn guide 14 on the carrier to lead yarn from a package 7 on the carrier into the axial passage of the spindle and vanes or blades on the carrier exposed to the ambient air and acting to retard rotation of the carrier. As shown, the yarn package carrier comprises inner and outer tubular members 6a and 6b and radial plates 8a and 8b. The tubular members define a vertical passage 6 open at the top and the radial plates define a chamber open at its periphery and to which the passage 6 leads and in which are situated the generally radial vanes 8. In a second embodiment the vanes are attached to the underside of a radial flange on which rests a bobbin carrying the yarn.
