Abstract
665,702. Power plant. SOC. D'ETUDES DE MACHINES, THERMIQUES. July 4, 1949 [July 9; 1948];-No: 17623/49. Class 7(ii) In engines comprising a main. frame, at least one main powershaft and a number of banks of. piston-cylinder units each having crankshafts disposed around the axis of a common powershaft, two banks 11, 14 are located at the lowermost part of the frame and one or more vertical and/or inclined banks 12, 12<SP>1</SP>, 13, 13<SP>1</SP> are located at the upper part of the frame, each crankshaft 7-10 having a gear meshing with a gear of the powershaft to which the total power of the units is transmitted. All the banks may be inclined and at least one bank may comprise a double row of units in V-relationship, Fig. 4. There may be two powershafts 17, 21 extending in opposite directions and inclined at an angle to each other in a common vertical plane, the related crankshafts . being correspondingly inclined, Fig. 5, or two powershafts inclined to. and diverging, from each other and extending in the same direction in a common horizontal plane, Fig. 7 (not shown).
