Abstract
665,182. Stoppers &c. LAYS, T. July 11. 1950. [May 30, 1949] No. 14490/49. Class 125(iii). A closure for a jar, bottle or the like containing food products such as cherries, pickled onions &c. comprises a closed compartment 1 with a liquid-tight lid 8 and a passage between the container and the compartment through which the cherries &c. may pass into the compartment when the container is inverted, the solids being retained between the walls of the compartment and the conical tube 5 which forms the passage and the liquid draining through holes 9 in an annular partition 4 when the container is restored to its normal position. The closure which may be of transparent : synthetic resin is attached to the container by a screw fitting, bayonet cap fitting or clips. In a modification the tube 5 is capable of vertical movement on guide pins to allow solids to be returned to the container.
