Abstract
664.060. Vulcanizing presses for tyres. SVIT, NARODNI PODNIK. March 16,1949 [March 16, 1948], No. 7162/49. Class 87(ii) A vulcanizing press of the watch case type, Fig. 2, has upper and intermediate movable platens 13, 9, respectively which co-operate together and with a fixed platen 1 to vulcanize simultaneously two rubber tyres positioned in the press in superposed relationship, and is characterized by the fact that each movable platen is tilted up and down by its own separate electric motor. The platen 9 is moved by means of links 8, and cranks 7 fastened on a shaft 6 which is rotated by a motor 3 through a worm and wheel gear 4, 5. The motor is started by a push button 2. A similar crank arrangement driven by motor 3<SP>1</SP> started by push button 2<SP>1</SP> moves the platen 13. In operation, one tyre is positioned on the platen 1, the platen 9 then being lowered upon it, and the second tyre is similarly positioned between the platens 9, 13. The tyres are provided with special inner tubes which are connected to a compressed air line or a hot water supply, and an electromagnetic valve known per se, (not shown) is operated when the press is closed to inflate the inner tubes with air or hot water. After the vulcanizing period which is determined by a conventional timing device (not shown), the timer operates the valve to discharge the inner tubes and then puts the motor 3' into operation to open the press. The upper tyre is then removed and the motor 3 operated by the push button 2 so that the other tyre may be removed. Cams 10, 10<SP>1</SP> and 14, 14<SP>1</SP> on the crank driving shafts operate switches 12, 12<SP>1</SP>, and 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, respectively to control the electric motors so that the platen movements take place in timed sequence. The motors always rotate in the same direction.
