Class 69 (ii) [Also in Group XXVIII] In a hydraulic motor comprising a stationary cylinder having a piston that co-operates with, but not mechanically connected to, an eccentric, the cylinder has associated with it a push rod that extends into the cylinder and into engagement with the piston and is projected into the cylinder by some moving part of the machine to effect positive movement of the piston and is retracted during the return movement of the piston; the mechanism is applicable to multicylinder motors. As shown in Fig. 1 several rows of coaxial cylinders have pistons 24 each engaging races 25 on eccentrics 26 on shafts 27; rods 35 extend between the pistons in coaxial cylinders. A rotary valve 31 has openings 41 that co-operate with channels 40 leading to the cylinders and also connected to longitudinal passages 37 leading to the inlet and outlet in the casing. The valve is connected to the eccentric shafts 27 by a gearing having a ratio of 2 : I and the drive may be connected to either the valve or eccentric shaft. In alternative constructions, one eccentric drives coaxial pistons through two bell cranks, or the valve is arranged between two lines of coaxial cylinders, there being four eccentric shafts. In a single-cylinder arrangement, the piston engages the eccentric which also actuates a lever that is connected by a link to another lever actuating the push rod 35.
