Abstract
662,753. Ventilated raincoats. WAJNSTOK, A. F. Dec. 2, 1948 [Dec. 6, 1947], No. 31209/48. Class 141. A waterproof garment e.g. raincoat is provided with ventilating slits in the inner folded edges of a vertical box pleat or pleats, together with a folded strip behind each pleat acting as a cushioning and spacing device to hold the pleat away from the wearer. The slits may be horizontal, vertical or V-shaped &c. and eyelets 19, Fig. 8, may be provided on each side of the slits 21 so that their width may be limited by a closing lace 20. As shown in Fig. 1, the garment is provided with shoulder and arm pieces 2, 5 secured by snap fasteners 3 and overlying ventilating gauzes 4, 6 respectively. The spacing strips 8, Fig. 3, are held in a folded condition by snap fasteners 9 which may also serve to secure them to each other when they are unfolded to form an inner covering. An additional lining of absorbent porous material may be provided on the inner side of the garment. A strip of rubberized material may be pasted on to the backs of the box pleats to increase their resilience.
