Abstract
662,135. Sporting guns. BERNARDELLI, E., BERNARDELLI. V., BERNARDELLI, V. and BERNARDELLI, V. Jan. 29, 1947. [Jan. 29, 1946] No. 2797/47. Class 119. A magazine sporting gun has a handleoperated hood D enclosing a tilting breech bolt 12, the hood sliding rearwards in the breech casing 14 against the action of a return spring 16 first to unlock the bolt and then to move it rearwards to open the breech for loading. The hood has side slots 30 engaging with play over a pair of projections 28 at the rear of the bolt. On opening the breech, forward inclines on the slots 30 and projections 28 engage to tilt the bolt upwardly and raise the wedge surface 32 on the bolt from locking engagement with a fixed crossbar 34. The hood and bolt then move rearwards together and cock the hammer 38, a cartridge C from the tubular magazine B being raised to loading position in known manner. When the hood and bolt return under the action of spring 16 the cartridge is loaded into the gun chamber 24 and the rear surfaces of slots 30 and projections 28 engage to tilt the bolt downwardly for locking against the crossbar 34. On releasing the trigger of the firing mechanism described in Specification 662,185, the hammer 38 strikes a firing pin 26 slidable in the breech bolt. The gun chamber is shown with flutes 36 to equalise the pressure of the gun gases on the cartridge case.
