Abstract

<PICT:0659129/IV (a)/1> A valve situated between a source of fluid under pressure and the pumps leading to the spinnerets of a plant for manufacturing artificial textiles comprises inlet and outlet chambers 3, 4, respectively, a multi-apertured plate 8 covering the chamber 4, and a diaphragm 9 which, when seated on the plate 8, cuts off communication between the two chambers. The chamber 4 is under vacuum and the diaphragm cuts off flow immediately the pressure is released from the solution entering chamber 3. Chamber 3 may also be covered by the plate 8. An apertured cover plate 11 serves to limit the amount by which the diaphragm can rise. The plate 11 may be provided with a transparent cover for inspection purposes, or a separate inspection chamber 14 with transparent cover may be provided.
