Abstract

658,723. Screw conveyers. SOMOGYI, F. P. June 28, 1949, No. 17120. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A screw conveyer has a shaft 1 which is supported at a point intermediate its ends by a split bush 12 which is removably secured to the shaft and runs in a fixed bearing 8 provided with a removable lining 11. Figs. 1 and 2. Conveyer shaft 1 carrying thread 6 is mounted in end bearings 3 and 4 in the walls 5 of the trough and in centre bearing 8 so that it discharges material from the trough. The centre bearing 8 which is supported at 7, consists of a plummer block 8, 9 which has a white metal bearing 11 and supports shaft 1 by means of steel split bush 12, which bush is secured to the shaft by bolts through lugs 13, 14 and the journal part 15 thereof rotates within the plummer block 8, 9. The split bush 12 is fitted integrally with flanges 20, 21 which prevent ingress of dust into the bearing.
