Abstract

658,339. Binoculars. MENDELSSOHN, H. E. March 8, 1949, No. 6335. [Class 97 (i)] Binoculars to be worn on the face comprise telescopes 1, 2 supported by a plate 3 the upper edge of which carries a shield 6 with a pad 7 engaging the forehead, and the lower edge is attached to pads 18, 19 engaging the face below the eyes, side arms 12, 13 to engage the ears being pivoted to the assembly. The pads 18, 19 are mounted on balls 16, 17 respectively engaging for universal adjustment in sockets carried by wing shields 14, 15 fixed to the plate 3 and to which the side arm hinges 10, 11 are attached. A pivoted member 20 may be provided to engage the nose. The plate 3, shield 6 and wing shields support the telescopes on the face and prevent entry of light except through the telescopes. The telescopes may slide in slots 5 in the plate 3 for interocular adjustment.
