Abstract

658,117. Card clothing. VOL CREPE, Ltd., and WOOLLEY, J. E. Feb. 28, 1949, No. 33373. [Class 120(iii)] Card clothing comprises the combination with wire teeth of a foundation consisting of an oil-resistant synthetic elastomer or elastomers bonded to a backing of woven. fabric by a flexible adhesive also having oil-resistant properties. Suitable elastomers are: (1) chloroprene polymers or copolymers; (2) olefine polymers and olefine copolymers with hydrocarbons having conjugated single and double bonds; (3) ethylene polysulphide condensates; (4) ethenoid polymers, e.g. polyvinyl chloride or acetate and their copolymers with hydrocarbons containing a vinyl grouping. The elastomer may be made cellular by addition of inflating agents and may have animal, vegetable or mineral fibres added. The adhesive is preferably derived from one or more of the elastomers.
