Abstract

Free carbon is prepared as in Specification 657,641 Specifications 595,759, 595,760, 595,763, 595,765, 648,539 and 651,435, [all in Group V], are referred to.ALSO:Free carbon prepared as in Specification 657,641 is moulded and heated to not less than 550 DEG C. in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, at a temperature rise not sufficient to cause intumescence. Additions to the carbon include swell inhibitors and binding agents. Specifications 595,759, 595,760, 595,763, 595,765, 648,539 and 651,435 are referred to.
