Abstract
657,257. Seats ; furniture joints. REID, L. H. Jan. 26, 1949, No. 2103. [Class 52 (ii)] In deck or other folding chair the crossbars are made detachable and replaceable. The crossbar 1 is provided at each end with a fitment comprising an end plate 2 with wings 3 which are secured to the bar 1 by a rivet or bolt 5. In a recess in the bar 1 adjacent the end plate 2 is placed a nut 6 into which screws a bolt or stud 10 which secures the side frame 9. Nibs or dimples 7 are formed in the wings 3 to prevent rotation of the nut 6 and spikes 8 on the plate 2 are adapted to enter the side frame 9. In a modification the wings may be arranged so as to fit a circular section crossbar or a socket may be fitted on to the end of the crossbar, the socket having an integral or separate screwed end for the reception of the stud passing through the end frame.
