Abstract
A wrinkle finish coating composition comprises the heat reaction products of 50 lbs. of a solid base material, at least 50 per cent of which consists of a hydrocarbon selected from the group consisting of untreated gilsonite, untreated candle pitch and untreated drying oil, the remainder being an oil-soluble resin such as phenol-aldehyde resin, with 7.5 to 10 gallons of untreated drying oil at a temperature of from 550 DEG to 650 DEG F., a thinner and a drier. The thinner may be toluol, xylol alone, together or mixed with petroleum naphtha and pigments may also be present. Tung oil is the specified oil and preferred driers are cobalt naphthenate and lino-resinate.ALSO:A wrinkle finish coating composition comprises the heat reaction product of 50 lbs. of a solid base material, 50-100 per cent of which consists of a hydrocarbon selected from the group consisting of untreated gilsonite, untreated candle pitch and untreated stearine pitch with 7.5 to 10 gallons of untreated drying oil at the temperature of from 550 DEG to 650 DEG F., a thinner and a drier. The hydrocarbons may be mixed with an oil-soluble resin, e.g. natural resins rendered oil-soluble by running. The thinner may be toluol, xylol, alone, together or mixed with petroleum solvents, e.g. light gravity petroleum naphtha, and pigments may also be present. Preferred driers are cobalt naphthenate and cobalt lino-resinate. Tung oil is a specified oil.
