Abstract
655,549. Snap-action, retractive, switches. RAWLINGS, J. L., and SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Ltd. June 30, 1947, No. 17199. [Class 38(v)] A retractive, snap-action switch comprises a bowed blade-spring moved over a dead-centre by a press-button against spring bias which returns the snap-spring to its initial position on removal of the operating force. A number of switch elements may be mounted side-by-side as a unit and operated through an elastic diaphragm forming a gas-tight cover for the switch housing, Fig. 3 (not shown). As shown, Fig. 1, a bowed blade-spring 10 clamped in compression between supports 11, 16 is actuated by a plunger bearing on an upper leaf spring 23 to cause the bowed spring 10 to snap over dead centre, against the bias of a lower blade spring 21, which returns the switch to the open position on release of the plunger. The change' in configuration of the.switch blade during actuation is illustrated in Figs. 4, 5 (not shown).
