Abstract

Water-insoluble dyes, which are capable of dyeing cellulose acetate directly as aqueous dispersions, are milled with water, a water-soluble salt of a lignin sulphonic acid, and an inorganic salt which is of neutral or alkaline reaction and is a salt of a monovalent cation which does not form an insoluble soap. The milled paste is dried and ground. In examples, sodium lignin sulphonate and water are milled with (1) 1.4-diaminoanthraquinone and sodium sulphate; (2) 2 - chlor - 4 - nitro - 6 - brombenzene - azodihydroxyethyl-m-chloraniline and trisodium phosphate; (3) 1 - amino - 4 - hydroxy - anthraquinone and sodium chloride.
