Abstract

654,291. Coating metallic articles by extrusion. DEKORON CORPORATION. Jan. 27, 1947, No. 27686/49. Divided out of 654,245, [Group XXVIII]. [Class 87 (ii)] A rigid metallic tube or rod 11 is coated with plastic material 10, e.g. cellulose acetate, by extruding the material in tubular form 24 through a die 20 whilst the tube &c. 11 is moved through the die at a rate faster than the flow of material from the die, whereby the material is stretched as it is applied to the tube &c. The tube &c. is spaced from the material where the latter leaves the die. The coated tube &c. may be used as a stanchion or supporting-rod in transportation vehicles. Specification 654,245, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
