[Class 61 (iii) ] In a pipe wrench wherein the upper jaw member D is angular and pivoted at B<SP>2</SP> to the forked extension a<SP>2</SP> of the handle lever A and the other jaw c<SP>2</SP> is. integral with the handle lever C and pivoted to the fork at B<SP>1</SP>, teeth d' on the tail of the member D mesh with teeth on a sector on the member Cc<SP>2</SP> and control the opening and closing of the jaws. Mechanical advantage is obtained by making the radius of the sector on which the teeth of the upper jaw are located larger than that of the corresponding sector of the lower jaw. A small jaw E for enabling a pipe to be gripped at a third point, is secured to the fork.
