Abstract
653,104. Controlling agricultural tractors. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd. July 1, 1948, No. 17738. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1947. [Class 79 (v)] In or for an implement-carrying agricultural tractor means are provided operable by movement of the implement and adapted to prevent movement of the gear lever of the tractor into the reverse gear position while the implement is in its operative position. As shown rotatably mounted adjacent to the gear lever 38 on the tractor is a transverse shaft 43 carrying an arm 44 and a stop member 45, a spring 47 tending to urge the member 45 into a horizontal position, in which position the gear lever 38 is prevented from moving into its reverse position. Connected to the arm 44 is a spring tensioned chain 49 which is connected to a rod 35 which is moved when the implement, shown as a beet harvester comprising a topping unit 17 and a digger 20, is moved between its operative and inoperative position by a hydraulic device 30 actuated by the tractor. When the implement is moved into its inoperative position, the rod 35 is urged to the left in Fig. 1 and by means of a chain 49 the stop member 45 is moved anti-clockwise into a vertical position thus allowing the gear lever to be moved into its reverse position.
