652,975. Thread-advancing reels. COURTAULDS, Ltd. Nov. 19. 1948, No. 30090. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1947. [Class 120(ii)] A thread-advancing reel for carrying out a number of processing operations on thread thereon, comprises one reel member 10 mounted concentrically on a shaft 20 and having a periphery made up of bars 15 extending for the length of the reel, together with a number of eccentrically-mounted reel members 11, 12, 13. arranged in end-to-end relationship along the shaft 20 but so that they rotate on axes that are offset and askew to the shaft 20, the members 11, 12, 13 having bars 16, 17 18 co-operating with the bars 15 to advance the thread over the surface of the reel, the eccentrics 46, 47, 48 carrying the reel members 11, 12, 13 being mounted on the shaft so as to permit of relative rotational adjustment between adjacent eccentrics. The eccentrics 46, 47, 48 may be separated by collars 49 and the contacting surfaces of both collars and eccentrics may be serrated so that they are locked together in the adjusted position when the reel assembly is tightened-up.
