[Class 103(ii)] [Also in Group XIV] A parcel tray for an automobile of the kind having a windshield offset relative to the instrument panel so as to afford a supporting shelf thereabove, comprises a base member adapted to rest on the shelf, an upstanding marginal flange on a portion thereof, and means for detachably securing the base member to a part of the vehicle adjacent the shelf. The tray comprises a triangular base portion 5 and upturned edges 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, the base being provided along its free edge with double slots forming between them a raised portion 8 to receive attachment members 9. Each attachment member has a tongue 10 formed thereon which engages in overlapping relation with an associated member 8 when assembled, and a small boss 10<SP>1</SP> is formed on the member 9 to prevent its withdrawal from the slots. The tray is retained in position on the shelf formed above the instrument panel by loosening the moulding 4 which surrounds the windscreen and inserting the end 12 of each member 9 therunder and re-securing the moulding. In vehicles not provided with this type of moulding the ends 12 may be bent downwardly and inserted in an aperture provided in the shelf for the emission of heated air. In this case the tray is formed with a strut 14 adapted to rest against the front face of the instrument panel. To match the tray to different interior finishes of the vehicle the edges 6, 6<SP>1</SP> may be fitted with plastic mouldings of varying surface designs and colours. In an alternative arrangement the flanges 6, 61 may be moulded independently of the base and in a further arrangement the sides may be formed with base flanges to support a removable base panel.
