652,041. Milking machines. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Dec. 18, 1947, No. 33442. Convention date, July 11, 1942. [Class 84] In a pneumatic pulsator for milking machines, the valve is secured to a diaphragm 4 dividing a housing 3 into two chambers 5, 6. The chamber 6 is connected by a restricted passage 24 to a chamber 25 which is alternately subjected to atmospheric and vacuum pressures since a passage 16, 19 extends through the upper portion of the valve. The frequency of the pulsations is determined by the bore of the passage 24 since, depending on the pressure in the chamber 5 acting on the diaphragms 4, 26, air flows from chamber 6 to chamber 25 or vice versa. A setscrew 29 acting on the diaphragm 26 enables the frequency of the pulsations to be varied. In a modified form, a tube 31 of compressible material, having a spiral spring 32 embedded therein, regulates the rate of flow of air in the closed circuit between the two chambers 6, 25, a bored disc 33 being positioned on top of the tube 31 and beneath the diaphragm 26.
