Abstract
A fibre-drafting element such as a cover for a rubber cot, spinning cot or a draft apron is composed of finely cellular oil-resistant synthetic rubber such as a copolymer of butadiene with acrylonitrile or styrene having unruptured gas-filled cells with the cellular structure exposed at the fibre-drafting surface. Preferably the cells have an average diameter less than 5-thousandths of an inch and a volume increase less than 90 per cent of the original volume of the unvulcanized synthetic rubber. The cellular product may be produced by the action of a blowing agent such as sodium bicarbonate. The cellular cover may be joined to an intermediate layer of non-cellular oil-resistant synthetic rubber which is itself joined to the cot.ALSO:A fibre-drafting element such as a cover for a roller cot, spinning cot or a draft apron is composed of finely cellular oil-resistant synthetic rubber having unruptured gas-filled cells with the cellular structure exposed at the fibre-drafting surface. The synthetic rubber may be a copolymer of butadiene or acrylonitrile or styrene, or neoprene, or that known under the Registered Trade Mark "Thiokol." Preferably the cells have an average diameter of less than 5-thousandths of an inch and a volume increase of less than 90 per cent of the original volume of the unvulcanized synthetic rubber. The cellular product may be produced by the action of a blowing agent such as sodium bicarbonate. The cellular cover may be joined to an intermediate layer of non-cellular oil-resistant synthetic rubber which is itself attached to the cot.
