Abstract
651,248. Gas turbines. WALOSZEK, F. Dec. 29, 1948, Nos. 33399 and 33400. Convention dates, Dec. 31, 1947 and Dec. 23, 1948. [Class 110(iii)] A turbine rotor with pockets 2 rotates within a casing having an inlet 3 and an exhaust 4. Combustible mixture is compressed by a centrifugal pump on the turbine shaft and delivered to the rotor pockets 2 at 3. The mixture is fired by a sparking plug 5 and burns up to the exhaust 4. The casing from the plug 5 to the exhaust has a jacket 10 through which air is forced by a second pump. The plug 5 is needed only for starting. The tips of the rotor pockets may run close to the casing or may be separated from the casing over the region 5, 4 by a small distance which decreases towards 4.
