647,882. Boxes; removing lids of containers. BERGERIOUX, R. June 24, 1946, No. 18923. [Classes 18 and 66] A box having a lid b and a lower portion a of lightweight material is encased in a stronger and more ornamental top B and base A which assist in the strengthening and opening of the box. The inner surfaces of the top B and base A and the outer surfaces of the lid b and lower portion c are of such form as to allow direct engagement between the top and the lid and between the base and the lower portion according to a suitable orientation, and upon relative rotation between the top and the lid and between the base and the lower portion a wedging and firm engagement of the top and base upon the lid and lower portion is obtained. The lid and/or lower portion may have an asymmetrical projection 62 which engages a corresponding recess in the top and/or base. The base may be provided with a pivoted lever 81, or a slot may be provided in the top to accommodate a coin or a flat tool to facilitate opening.
