Abstract
647,179. Stapling. BREUILLE, A. F. Aug. 5, 1948, No. 20725. [Class 89(iii)] In a stapling device comprising a base 1 to which are pivoted at 4 a magazine arm 2 and a driver arm 3, the arm 3 is provided with a plate 33 also pivoted on the pin 4 and pressed outwards by a bow spring 32 to prevent the staples 8 from rising with the driver 30 when the latter is returned to its normal position by the spring 32. The plate 33 is retained within the arm 3 by hooked lugs 34. The staples are fed forward by a pusher member 10 controlled by a tension spring 12 housed within the magazine 6. The front wall 15 of the throat 22 through which the staples are driven is yieldable against a spring 25 passed around the rear end of the magazine bar 6. The driver 30 has a concave lower edge, Fig. 9, and both the driver 30 and the front wall 15 have a central corrugation, while the front wall has an outturned upper lip 18. Upward movement of the magazine arm 2 under the action of a spring 42 is limited by lugs 38 on a plate 40 yieldably'held in position by a spring 41.
