645,778. Rail spikes. ELASTIC RAIL SPIKE CO., Ltd., and SANSON, L. S. Aug. 11, 1948, No. 21205. [Class 89(ii)] A solid rail spike with resilient gripping arm has the first part of the arm bent into arch shape 3 and the second part 6 bent at a right angle to the first to extend along the rail flange. The end 7 extends somewhat downwards and the part 6 may be twisted or chamfered to suit the angle of the flange. The spikes are heat treated after bending and are square in cross section throughout; the end being tapered at 13.
