Abstract
645,236. Thermal switches. HOOVER, Ltd. June 9. 1948, No. 15552. Convention date, June 16, 1947. [Class 38(v)] The handle supports 19, 20 of an electric iron are extended at the base to form a shield 21 which substantially overlies the whole of a cooling fin 13 mounted above the iron body 10 and has a recess 23 accommodating the thermostatadjusting ring 25 accessible by openings 45, 46 in the shield 21. The ring is mounted by metal discs 30, 31 engaging at their outer periphery an internal rib 27 on the ring and joined at their centre by a sleeve 33 having a flat surface 35 co-operating with a like surface on the thermostat shaft 15. Vibration of the ring 25 is prevented by spring fingers 40, 41 stamped out of the discs 30, 31 and respectively pressing against the inner surface 42 of the recess 23 and the top surface of the cooling fin 13.
