Abstract
642,647. Gill drawing frames. DOTTI, E. L. Sept. 19, 1946, No. 28128. Convention date, May 9. [Class 120(i)] In an arrangement for combing textile fibres a pair of endless belts or chains 1 passing over and driven by rollers or chain wheels 4 carry the combs 2 and are surrounded by a second pair of endless belts or chains 6 carrying rods 5 which, over an upper horizontal run of the belts are intercalated between the combs. The belts 1 are guided in the horizontal portion by guides 3 and the belts 6 by guides 7 which extend beyond the guides 3 so that the rods slidingly disengage from the combs to remove waste material. A third pair of endless belts or chains 10 passing over rollers or chain wheels 11 may be superposed to press the fibrous material into the combs 2. In a modification a set of rods and combs carried by belts as above described have an identical arrangement superposed so that the combing operation is performed by two sets of combs, one projecting upwardly and one downwardly into the material. the combs of the upper set entering the spaces between the combs of the lower set. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification in which comb teeth are provided on the periphery of a drum 12, Fig. 3, (Cancelled), and a set of rods is carried by an endless belt 6 which passes over the drum and a roller 8, the rods being intercalated between the comb teeth as the belts pass over the drum. An additional set of rods 9 is carried by a pair of endless belts 10 passing over rollers 11 and serves to press the fibre into the comb teeth. A pair of feeding rollers 13 may be provided. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
