Abstract

642,280. Bobbins. AEROPARTS ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and NORTON, G. May 26, 1948, No. 14195. [Class 120(iii)] A metal bobbin has a tubular barrel fitted with end flanges, each flange being secured by axial pressure which urges a flange 2 and an associated dished disc 13 towards each other, the dished disc 13 fitting inside the barrel 1 with its hollow side towards the flange 2 and being expanded into locking engagement with the inside of the barrel 1 by the axial pressure. The axial pressure is created by turning a screw - threaded spindle 4 into a nut 15, welded or otherwise secured to the disc 13, the disc 13 being located by an outer distance piece 11. An inner distance piece 10 prevents the spindle 4 being knocked out of true when in use and a spring washer 12 prevents the spindle 4 vibrating loose. A guide washer 8 and flange supporting washer 9 support the flange 2 against the barrel end.
