639,622. Blackhead removers. HOBSON, J., and SANDLER, H. Dec. 23, 1947, No. 33921. [Class 81 (ii)] A device for the removal of blackheads consists of an applicator connected to vacuum-promoting means whereby the atmospheric pressure on the surrounding area of skin is used to expel the blackhead. As shown, a chamber 11 having a nozzle 14a is filled with hot water through filling aperture 26 and then emptied and cap 27 replaced, the appliance then being placed on the skin with the orifice 15 of the nozzle over the blackhead, an aperture at the rear of the chamber being closed by cap 23: as the chamber cools a partial vacuum is set up therein and atmospheric pressure on the skin surrounding the blackhead causes the latter to be expelled into the nozzle. In a modification, the chamber is provided with an electrical heater.
