[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 3, 1948.] [Class 37] Electroanalysis apparatus employing a capillary mercury electrode comprises means for directing the mercury under pressure through the solution at an angle to the surface, and means for conducting it away from the electrode. The apparatus consists of an A-shaped vessel, the static mercury electrode being placed in one arm 4, covered by the solution to be analysed. The capillary tube 8 passes through this arm 4 at an angle to the surface of the solution, so that when mercury is forced through the outlet, which is maintained at a fixed distance d from the surface of the solution, it passes through the liquid without splitting, hits the opposite wall of the vessel and falls through the other arm 1 into a vessel 3. The level of mercury in the vessel 3 is maintained constant, and the level of mercury in arm 4 can be varied to maintain distance d at a constant value. A burette 14 is fixed to the top of the vessel to allow for its use in performing polarometric titrations.
