Abstract

In apparatus for imposing a tension on an artificial yarn or filament, particularly during the hot or cold drawing of the same, and comprising a plurality of bars, one at least of which has means whereby its position with regard to the others may be varied, each bar having a convex surface, the yarn passing between the bars in an undulating path and the are of contact of the yarn with each bar being less than 360 degrees, at least one of the bars is provided with means whereby it may be heated or cooled. The heating may be effected by electric coils and the cooling by the circulation of gases. The bars may be bent outwardly or tapered at their outer ends so that "stringing-up" may be facilitated, and the adjustable bar or bars may be attached to sliders which may be locked in the adjusted position by means of set-screws.
