636,065. Rollers. HUGHES & CO., Ltd., F. A., and EASTWOOD, F. Sept. 12, 1947, No. 25044. [Class 42 (ii)] [Also in Group IX] A slip or lap roller for an opener and scutcher machine comprises a hollow body 10 of a magnesium base alloy and bearing rods 15, 16 at its ends, made of a harder metal and screwed into the ends of the roller body with a right-hand thread at one end, and a left-hand thread at the other end. As shown, flanges 17 and 18 are provided on the bearing rods for abutment against the ends of the roller-body 10 and a knob 20 of magnesium base alloy is attached to the outer end of bearing-rod 16 for lifting purposes.
