Abstract
635,847. Fluid actuated pumps. WEBB, J. G. Aug. 14, 1947, No. 22565. [Classes 8(i) and 102(i)] A fluid pressure intensifier comprises a differential piston and cylinder device actuated by low pressure fluid which is also to be increased in pressure. Two pistons 5, 6 connected together by a rod 9 are contained in cylinders 1, 2. A connection 10 is connected to the source of low pressure and to the cylinder 1 through a port 21 and by a pipe 11 to the cylinder 2 through a non-return valve 13 in a connection 14 which has a connection 15 having a non-return valve therein, to a receiver. The port 21 is controlled by a piston slide valve 17 operating in a cylinder 20. The outer ends of the cylinder are connected by pipes 22, 23 to the cylinders 2, 1 through ports 29, 26 which are uncovered by the pistons 6, 5 at the end of their inward strokes thereby supplying fluid to the cylinder 20 to actuate the valve 17 to open or close the port 21 and to close or connect a port 28 to an exhaust port 27 to provide continuous operation of the device.
