Abstract
634,506. Combined tin-opening and pouring device. SOC. CIVILE BEMEX. March 28, 1947. No. 8518. Convention date, Feb. 28. [Class 21] A combined spout and tin-opener comprises a punch having a cutting member 7 slidable in a guide member 8, and capable of being secured to a tin by the engagement of portions of the member 7 with edges of the aperture formed by the punch. The member 8 with the punch in its retracted position, is placed on the tin and the punch pressed down to cut the aperture. The punch is turned to bring portions of the member 7 beneath edges of the aperture and a lock-nut 11 is screwed down to lock these edges between the member 7 and a scaling ring 10 carried by the member 8. The lock-nut 11 may be used to limit the penetration of the punch. A screw cap 12 closes the spout and the cap may have markings to indicate the angle through which the punch must be turned to lock the device to a tin. The spout may have a corrosion resisting lining 13 and the whole device may be treated against corrosion.
