Abstract

634,476. Centrifugal separators. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Nov. 24, 1947, No. 31071. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1946. [Class 23] The ring-shaped slide 11 is axially displaceable to uncover the sludge outlet 12 whilst the drum is rotating at full speed, displacement being wholly or partly effected by spring action. The slide 11 may be closed during operation by pressure produced by centrifugal action in the chamber 19 in a liquid supplied thereto through channels 21, 22 leading from a chamber 23 to which the operating liquid is supplied through a channel 24 in the bowl spindle 4. The chamber 19 is provided with orifices 20 which are permanently open, or with valve-controlled outlets, and is connected with the upper side of the flange 16 by holes 27 to keep the flange free from sludge. Channels 25 and 25a are provided to allow air to escape from the chamber 23 and the pressure chamber 19.
