Abstract

633,774. Luggage carriers for vehicles. DESCHAMPS, O. LUCANU-. Jan. 1, 1947, No. 44. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1946. [Class 103 (ii)] A luggage carrier, for attachment to a vehicle with a rear bumper and particularly for carrying bicycles comprises spaced frame members a (which may be telescopic), fastened at their upper ends to eye-bolts c on the back of the car and pivoted at their lower ends to eye-bolts d clamped to the bumper g by angle brackets f, the luggage grid being supported between the members a. This grid is foldable against the supports a and comprises side bars m connected transversely by bars n which are adjustable to suit the width of the car, the side bars being pivoted to the eye bolts d and being adjusted for inclination by a bolt o screwed through a bracket on the side bar m and pressing against the eye bolt d. An adjustable and pivoted guard s is provided near the upper ends of the supports a, the guard being telescopic to suit the spacing of the supports a and has bent ends sliding in pivoted sockets adapted to be clamped to further sockets slidable on the supports a.
