633,443. Two-stroke engines. GES. ZUR FORDERUNG DER FORSCHUNG AN DER EIDGENOSSISCHEN TECHNISCHEN HOCHSCHULE. June 30, 1947, No. 17254. Convention date, July 20, 1946. Drawings to Specification. [Class 7 (ii)] In a two-stroke engine, the cylinder inlet and exhaust ports are opened substantially simultaneously, and non-return valves are placed in the inlet pipes at e.g. eight to twelve times the cylinder diameter from the ports, so that the pressure wave of exhaust gas admitted when the ports are first opened is returned and draws in the charge without precompression. In a multi-cylinder engine separate inlet pipes are provided.
