Abstract

632,475. Making turbines and centrifugal impellers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and DERIAZ, P. Dec. 9, 1947, No. 32464. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXVI] Uniting by fusion.-A hydraulic, turbine or centrifugal-pump, runner is made by assembling separate blades 2 and segments of upper and lower contour members 3, 4 and welding them together from the exterior. The blades 2 and/or segments are of cast or sheet stainless steel and stainless steel electrodes are used. The runner is completed by welding on shroud rings 5, 6 and a securing ring 7 and attaching a hub comprising a crown 1 and a sleeve 8 by temporary or permanent bolts 9 and fusion deposited keys 10.
