Abstract
630,394. Electrodeposition. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. Aug. 1, 1947, No. 20992. Convention date, March 28, 1944. Drawings to Specification. [Class 41] [Also in Group XL (c)] A piezo-electric crystal having an electrode of nickel, platinum, silver, chromium, aluminium or gold (the latter possibly being mixed with platinum, rhodium, palladium or other noble metal) applied by deposition or spraying has a further layer of nickel electroplated on to the electrode to adjust the resonant frequency of the crystal (see Group XL). The solution for nickel plating may consist of a bath including nickel sulphate with sufficient nickel chloride present to ensure good anode corrosion, sufficient boric acid to buff the cathode film and prevent it becoming alkaline, and sufficient nickel hydroxide to ensure high cathode efficiency. The solution may be treated with charcoal to remove impurities.
