Abstract

630,176. Vehicle wheels. CORNERCROFT, Ltd., and RYCROFT, N. July 28, 1947, No. 20207. [Class 144 (i)] A fairing-disc for the side of a wheel comprises an outer annulus 7 shaped to hug the rim-flange 8b, and an inner annulus 10 with central nutattachment, by means of which the outer edge 10d of the annulus 10 is pressed against a rubber &c. ring 9 seated in the inner edge 7a of the annulus 7. As shown in Fig. 2, the inner portion 10a is secured to a sleeve 11 which is ribbed for non-creep engagement with the boss 12a of a nut-adapter 12. The nut-cap, by which the device is forcibly secured, comprises a coverplate 13 and an inner cap 13b in which is fixed a bolt 14b to engage a nut 15 fixed in the adaptor 12a. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the inner annulus 10a is clamped between a pressure-ring 17 and a collar 18b on the central securing-nut 18. The tyre-valve 16 is housed in a flanged thimble 20 fitted through the rim. Specifications 415,681 and 526,576 are referred to.
