629,941. Non - metal resistances cooling resistances. AKTIEBOLAGET ELEKTROLUX. Dec. 29, 1947, No. 34378. Convention date, Sept. 12, 1944. [Class 37] [Also in Group XXXV] In a speed regulating device for an electric motor, having a centrifugal switch with a resistance connected across the switch terminals and which is rotated by the motor, the resistance has a surface in good heat contact with one or more plate elements which are rotated to induce an air flow for cooling purposes. Fig. 2 shows a centrifugal switch in which the contacts are connected by resistance 21. Two semi-circular plates 29 are placed above and below resistance 21 and are - cooled by the air flow through recesses 30 when the switch is rotated. The resistance and plates form a counterweight to the switch elements. The resistance may consist of a ceramic material' in which the current is proportional to the fourth power of the applied voltage. A thin lead plate may be inserted between the resistance and the plate elements.
