Abstract

629,572. Automatic exchange systems. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. Aug.. 7, 1947, No. 21758. Convention date, Sept. 24, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (iv)] All the digits of a subscriber's number are transmitted simultaneously in a single pulse consisting of a combination of voice frequency currents. As described, 16 frequencies are allocated for the transmission of a 4-digit number, 4 frequencies being allocated to each digital position, the individual digits of which are characterized by different combinations of two out of the four frequencies. The invention is described with reference to the transmission of wanted subscriber's numbers between two exchangers of revertive control type, the V.F. pulse being transmitted from a register at the originating exchange to set 4 sets of 4 storage relays in a register at the receiving exchange, each set being used in turn to determine the point of entry into a relay chain which is then run down by revertive impulses during the setting of the selector switches in the usual manner. Specification 176,889, [Class 40 (iv)], is referred to.
