Abstract
629,522. Radio receiving apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and AKROYD, R. Nov. 19, 1947, No. 30705. [Class 40 (v)] A noise-reducing circuit comprises a capacitance in series with a first rectifier, a second rectifier being connected to the common point so that unlike poles of the rectifiers are connected together, and the output is taken from across the two rectifiers. The circuit shows a leaky-grid detector valve 1, the output being supplied through condenser 3 to the common connection of rectifiers 6 and 4. The potential of point 9 becomes equal to the peak amplitude of the signal so that normally rectifier 4 is non-conducting and rectifier 6 conducts to supply the output terminal 7. In the event of a large amplitude noise impulse, rectifier 4 conducts and rectifier 6 becomes non-conducting, so preventing the noise from reaching the output. A small condenser 10 may be connected across the output circuit to reduce the maximum amplitude of the pulse below that of the modulation, and to reduce the possibility of clipping of the modulation a positive bias source may be connected to rectifier 6 through resistance 11.
